Supreme Court halts TMT construction

KITV: Seven people were arrested for camping during restricted hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and six were given citations for prohibited activity.
Demonstrators with Aloha Aina say they were caught off guard.
"They didn't inform us why they are arresting. That's why they were here. They just kind of got ready for action started grabbing people and said you're going to get arrested. If you want to get arrested or do you want to get a citation?" said Lakea Trask.
The state says that was not the case....

Ige not considering National Guard to settle Mauna Kea dispute

KITV: The governor’s comments come after a dozen protesters were arrested on the mountain last Wednesday for refusing to move out of the way of construction crews trying to reach the site of what could become the world’s largest land-based observatory. Ige said he wants to enforce existing state law that prevents overnight camping at Mauna Kea and the blocking of the summit road, but did not provide a timeline.

UH: Mauna Kea summit road to remain closed

KITV: The Mauna Kea summit road, beginning at the Halepohaku mid-level facilities, will remain closed to all but authorized personnel until further notice, according to the University of Hawai'i.
The UH Office of Mauna Kea Management is currently assessing damage to the road and stability of the slopes for potential rockfalls.

KITV: Gov. David Ige said the boulders and rock structures that were found on the gravel road leading to the summit of Mauna Kea have been removed on Thursday. The University of Hawaii says there were four completed rock walls as of 7 a.m. Thursday. They were removed by around noon. All that is left are two newly-constructed ahu on Mauna Kea Access Road. TMT crews fail reach Mauna Kea summit

KITV: On Wednesday, hundreds of protesters forced construction crews for the Thirty Meter Telescope to come to a halt, but it didn’t come without sacrifice.
In total, 12 people were arrested for obstructing the passage, but after a six-hour attempt to make it to the top of the summit, TMT crews only reached about a mile and a half up from hale pohaku before turning back.

KITV: Construction crews for the Thirty Meter Telescope advanced roughly 300 yards up Mauna Kea before they were met by protesters Wednesday morning.
The TMT crews were crossing onto a portion of the road managed by the state. That's where Department of Land and Natural Resources officers were waiting to take over the escort.
There were hundreds more protesters lining the mountain in front of them and multiple people were arrested.
In total, 11 people were arrested, according to West Hawaii Today....
