Indians question how far flash-flooding disaster was manmade

Guardian: As India picks up the pieces from the worst-ever flash floods in the Himalayas, the nation is beginning to wonder to what extent human intervention – specifically religious tourism and hydroelectric projects – contributed to the disaster. Guardian: Tens of thousands of people, including pilgrims, tourists and local villagers, remained stranded on Thursday and an unknown number have been killed after torrential rains in the eastern Himalayas breached a glacier, flooded mountain rivers and triggered scores of landslides.
