United Kingdom: Government survey finds support fracking has fallen to 24%

Blue and Green: A survey released on Tuesday by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has contradicted findings from a trade body earlier this week. The new poll found less than a quarter of Brits said they support shale gas extraction, a decline since the previous survey in March.
The DECC public opinion tracker ‘wave 10’ also found continued high levels of support for renewable energy and a drop in support for nuclear power.

Baseline for ‘normal’ weather needs to be updated due to climate change, says UN agency

Blue and Green: The World Meteorological Organisation`s (WMO) Commission for Climatology has said the current baselines for weather are out of date and must be updated more frequently due to the impacts of global warming.
Currently, the official existing baseline is based on climate averages of 1961-1990 and is only updated once every 30 years.

Blue and Green: Meat-eaters’ diets have a much larger carbon footprint than vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian diets, a new study published in the journal Climatic Change has found.
