Big Island Video News: Kaho`okahi Kanuha was found not guilty by Judge Barbare Takase at the Third-Circuit District Court in Waimea.
Kanuha was charged with obstructing Thirty Meter Telescope crews on the Mauna Kea Access Road on June 24, 2015. He was one of 12 arrested on the mountain that day. Big Island Video News: Governor David Ige signed new rules for Mauna Kea on Tuesday. The rules were approved by the Board of Land and Natural Resources after a long public hearing on Friday, July 10th. The rules were supported by the University of Hawaii, state law enforcement and astronomers. However, a greater number of testifiers opposed the rules. Big Island Video News: A war crimes complaint was filed on Wednesday in Canada in connection with the planned Thirty Meter Telescope project on Mauna Kea.
The Hawaiian Kingdom blog reported that Kaho‘okahi Kanuha, a spokesperson for the Ku Kia`i Mauna movement that is blocking TMT from the summit of the sacred mountain, hand delivered the complaint, which was drafted by his attorney Dexter Kai`ama. Kanuha was accompanied by Dr. Keanu Sai, who drafted a detailed War Crimes Report at the request of Kai`ama.
