North Carolina’s Outer Banks ‘ban’ rising seas

Sky News: Politicians in the United States have been accused of trying to make rising sea levels illegal. When scientists in North Carolina predicted global warming will cause a rise of at least a metre by the end of the century in the seas off the Outer Banks it caused uproar among businesses and property owners. The Banks are a 200-mile (320-km) long, narrow and very low-lying spit of land stretching into the Atlantic Ocean. Don’t Call Them “Climate Deniers.” Call them “Climate Optimists.”

Mother Jones: Las Vegas is parched. A 14-year drought has left Lake Mead, the local water source, dangerously low. It has dropped 100 feet in the past decade. Canadian environment groups, natives challenge Enbridge pipeline

Reuters: A coalition of environmental groups launched a second legal challenge against Enbridge Inc's Northern Gateway crude oil pipeline on Friday, asking a Canadian court to quash federal approval that they say was based on a flawed report. The same group filed a lawsuit in January over a preliminary approval by the Joint Review Panel, which found the C$7.9 billion ($7.36 billion) project posed little risk to the environment provided Enbridge complied with 209 conditions. The Canadian government green...
